Bloodgnats
Small, dark-bodied flying insectoids that breed in still water, marshes, and stagnant pools, rising in dense cloud-like swarms with a single purpose: feeding. Unlike passive midges, Bloodgnats aggressively target any creature in reach, swarming en masse until every inch of exposed skin burns. A single gnat is an irritant; a thousand can prove fatal.
